Finland (Finnish: Suomi) is a Republic which became a member of the European Union in 1995. The population is 5.3 million with around 561 000 living in the capital city, Helsinki. Helsinki is lauded for its natural beauty, but these days the Finnish capital is a veritable mini-metropolis.
